Using public and community transport
Using public or community transport can be a more economical, greener travel choice for some residents.
Public transport
There are several public bus services available in Buckinghamshire.
We also offer free bus passes for:
- older people (of state pension age)
- people with a permanent disability
- people with a disability that lasts at least 12 months (or likely to last at least 12 months)

Get Around for £2 scheme
Until 31 December 2024 a single bus journey will cost no more than £2 on most routes across Buckinghamshire.
The Department for Transport (DfT) have launched a nationwide £2 fare cap scheme to support families with the cost of living.
The operators taking part in Buckinghamshire are:
- Arriva
- Carousel Buses (including the Wycombe Pick Me Up service)
- First
- Langston & Tasker
- Red Eagle Buses
- Redline Buses
- Stagecoach
- Thames Valley Buses
Early travel scheme
Until 31 March 2025, holders of the Buckinghamshire Older Person and Disabled Bus Passes will be able to travel before 9am (Monday to Friday) for a reduced single fare of £1 on all journeys starting in Buckinghamshire*.
This is a trial period and may be extended.
Holders of a pass for a visual impairment can continue to travel free of charge at any time.

Community transport
Community transport schemes are an affordable option for residents who are unable to use public transport.

Chilterns Dial-a-Ride
Chilterns Dial-a-Ride provides transport for residents who live in or close to the former Chiltern district area but are unable to use public or private transport due to:
- age
- disability
- illness
The door-to-door service is:
- affordable
- accessible
- safe

On-demand mini bus service (Pick Me Up)
Pick Me Up is an on-demand mini bus service in High Wycombe (run by Carousel Buses).
This service provides:
- flexible travel
- no fixed timetable
- routes that are determined by passenger bookings
You can book either by telephone or using the app.
