Visitors information

Visitors are always welcome. Some come to pay their respects to people they have lost, while others come simply to enjoy the gardens and views. All are asked to be mindful of the role the gardens have and to be respectful.

For information on what is permitted in the Memorial Gardens, see our cemetery regulations.

Many activities are on offer throughout the year. For instance:

  • guided walks
  • tree trail (leaflets available in the porch)
  • butterfly day led by an expert in July
  • heritage open days
  • annual thanksgiving service
  • National Gardens Scheme open day
  • Autumn fungus foray

For more information on these events:

Toilets

Toilet facilities are located in the cottage near the main entrance.

Parking

The car park opposite the gardens is open weekends and Bank Holidays.

From Monday to Friday, park in the gardens during office hours, or in the small front section of the car park if you are staying past 4.30pm.

Weekend access is via the side gate.

Access and arrangements

Wheelchair users can gain access through the churchyard.

All the main paths are gravel or tarmac and are suitable for wheelchair access.

A wheelchair and electric buggy are available during office hours, but must be pre-booked.

Buying an interment plot

Before buying an interment plot, make sure that you read our cemetery regulations.

For more information, see our fees webpage.

A grave can be allocated or you can have a look around to see which areas you like. The map and price list are split into letters of the alphabet to help you.

Then make an appointment and we can show you exactly what is available in the areas you like.

For more information:

Finding an interment site

If you wish to conduct a search for the burial site of a friend or loved one, there are many online tools for finding a grave or interment plot.

We recommend visiting Deceased Online.

If you are unable to find an answer to your query through this tool:

Provide as much information as possible on names and dates.

Gated Gardens

500 gated family gardens are located within the Memorial Gardens.

Each individually designed by Edward White to represent a 'home-coming', and in which are interred the ashes of some well-known people.

One of the larger gardens, the Ghurkha Memorial Garden, is in memory of the 4th Prince of Wales' own Ghurkha Rifles.

Friends of Stoke Poges

The staff of five gardeners are assisted by the Friends of Stoke Poges volunteer group who come in regularly to help out. More volunteers are always welcome.

To contact or join this volunteer group, email the Friends of Stoke Poges: [email protected].

Maintenance

We have a staff of five gardeners who put in a great deal of hard work year round to keep the gardens beautiful.

If you are a visitor, see what you're allowed to bring to the gardens in our cemetery regulations.

For any grounds maintenance issues:
