Bringing Safety to Life!

On Tuesday 11 February 2025, Skewb Climate joined Cadent Gas Ltd at The Gateway to showcase a new, free, Minecraft-based game aimed at raising awareness to school children of dangers around Streetworks.
With road construction projects increasing in communities, it’s more important than ever for young people to understand how to stay safe around streetworks and roadworks. To help with this, Cadent has created a games hub which has exciting new Minecraft-based educational games designed to teach children about road safety in a fun and engaging way. This interactive experience immerses children in a virtual world where they learn about important safety elements such as streetwork signage, protective barriers, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The game also encourages safe and active travel, educating children on how to navigate streets safely on foot and by bicycle.
To help reach, engage and educate Buckinghamshire pupils, Cadent are offering to bring this learning experience directly to schools via free assemblies where they’ll engage students in discussions about road safety and provide them with access to the game. The goal is to reach as many young people as possible, making the county’s streets safer for everyone through education and play.
Through Cadent Games, learning has been made fun, interactive, and engaging - helping young people understand the dangers of carbon monoxide, road safety, and more. Please share this opportunity with your local school to give students the chance to learn essential road safety skills in a way they’ll love. Schools can register here.

During the day, colleagues, councillors and Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Steven Broadbent, had the opportunity to experience the game for themselves on one of several laptops with many giving very positive feedback on the experience.
