We are focussed on our commitment to regenerate Aylesbury, Chesham, High Wycombe and other town centres by:

• reviewing how we use public spaces and buildings
• revitalising social, business and residential areas
• creating prosperous places that attract commercial and economic investment and opportunity

We will look at development and placemaking opportunities to show the benefits for people who live, work and relax in Buckinghamshire.

Redevelopment usually focuses on the demolition of old or redundant physical infrastructure to make room for new construction.

Regeneration reviews how spaces are used and adapts them in order to attract investment and create a better place.

We have created the Buckinghamshire Regeneration Framework guidance (PDF, 7.29 MB) which shows the potential of our three larger towns:

• Aylesbury
• Chesham
• High Wycombe

This will help our other towns and villages realise their potential and recognise the numerous strengths Buckinghamshire already has.

The framework gives guidance on:

• our vision for place-based regeneration
• our priorities to fulfil our ambitions for Buckinghamshire
• how we should regenerate places and investment guidance (it does not make land-use allocations decisions or determine funding for projects)
• how to enable local partnerships, encourage collaboration and solve local challenges
• developing business cases for investment in local initiative
• supporting the pursuit of external funding

We will publish the Buckinghamshire Regeneration Framework here when it is completed.

Regeneration is overseen by the Buckinghamshire Growth Board and the Regeneration Board.

Regeneration proposals are reviewed by the Buckinghamshire Growth Board, who review strategic place-based initiatives for the county.

The purpose of the Regeneration Board, (chaired by the Leader of the Council) is to:

• provide strategic direction for regeneration activities
• make it easier for partnerships to work together
• decide which new projects should be prioritised

Each of our key towns has a regeneration group which focuses on local regeneration priorities. The partnership boards take on a collaborative approach to promoting activity to regenerate their towns.
