Working together to provide adoption services in Buckinghamshire

Buckinghamshire Council has awarded the contract for its new regional adoption agency (RAA) partner to the adoption charity Parents and Children Together (PACT).

The move is part of the Department for Education’s (DfE) regionalisation of adoption services in England.

Teams from both organisations are now working on establishing the partnership and combining each agency’s best practice as well as seeking feedback from adopters and adopted people to shape and influence the direction of the Buckinghamshire Adoption Partnership for its planned launch in January 2024.

Buckinghamshire Council

Buckinghamshire Council is a unitary authority covering the county of Buckinghamshire (excluding Milton Keynes). With a population of over 500,000 people, the council was formed in April 2020, replacing the former Buckinghamshire County Council and districts of South Bucks, Chilterns, Wycombe and Aylesbury Vale.

Our Children's Social Care Teams support families in the community and where it is not safe for children to remain at home, we will find permanent families for them.

Some of these children will have a plan of adoption and will be placed with adopters approved by Buckinghamshire Council and other adoption agencies. Buckinghamshire Council also has a statutory responsibility to provide support services to those affected by adoption. Adoptees, Adopters and Birth Families.
