Free parking

Who's eligible

Foster carers are eligible if:

  • they have been approved as a foster carer by Buckinghamshire Council (they're eligible from the Buckinghamshire Council agency decision date)
  • they have taken their first child in care

Eligibility for the offer will be reviewed at the end of each financial year and is at the discretion of the council.

Who's not eligible

Foster Carers are not eligible if:

  • they are an approved foster carer but have not taken a child in care
  • they have retired, or resigned as a foster carer
  • they become subject to an open standard of care investigation
  • the council have deregistered the foster carer from Buckinghamshire Council (even if they make a successful appeal against the decision)

About the perk

Foster carers must be aware that:

  • they are responsible for observing and abiding by the rules for individual car parks
  • any breach of the rules may result in a parking enforcement for which the foster carer would be liable
  • the offer is contingent on them completing and returning the parking use survey (issued to them every 3 months)

Using the parking permit

Foster carers must only use their free parking for themselves and their children in care or birth children in their vehicles registered to the parking permit.

You cannot share the parking access with others.

Tax

Advice on tax implications to follow where relevant. All offers are provided at the discretion of the council.
