Setting up a community food growing project
Community food growing projects help support community development on new Aylesbury Garden Town sites, such as adopting community programmes and projects and accessing funding themselves.
Their aim is to:
- support local sustainable food production - the fruit and vegetables grown are shared with the wider community
- help groups of people create a garden on a piece of land with shared access
- create positive community relationships, social interaction, education and outreach
The projects are based on 5 ways of wellbeing:
- Connect with people
- Be active
- Take notice of the world around you
- Keep learning and try something new
- Give some time to help others
