Booker, Cressex and Castlefield ward action plan
Booker, Cressex and Castlefield ward partnership have developed an action plan to address local issues and improve opportunities. This is part of the Opportunity Bucks programme which aims to help residents access the opportunities on offer in Buckinghamshire.
The ward partnership would like to hear your ideas on how to improve:
- education and youth engagement
- jobs, careers and skills
- quality of the public realm
- standard of living
- health and wellbeing
We want to hear from the community about your ideas to improve this area.
Local priorities
The ward partnership brings together local people, community groups, organisations, and councillors to take action on what’s important to their area.
We have identified priorities that we are working on over the coming months:
- improve education and employment opportunities for young people and adults
- address issues of anti-social behaviour, drugs and improve feelings of safety
- increase pride in the appearance of the area, ownership of places and increase community connections by bringing the community together
Current projects
Castlefield traffic calming scheme
Members of the local community have taken an active lead on the Castlefield traffic calming scheme to make the roads around Castlefield safer for everyone.
The traffic calming project aims to reduce vehicle speeds and discourage anti-social driving along roads identified by the Castlefield local community with the help of the Thames Valley Police neighbourhood team.
The following roads have traffic calming measures proposed and will include a series of table-top junctions, raised tables, round-top humps, speed cushions as well as an entry feature style chicane:
- Rutland Avenue
- The Middleway
- Spearing Road
- Booker Lane
- Cross Road
- Whitelands Road
The aim is to start on-site in spring 2024. The scheme is expected to take several months to complete. Updates will be provided to local members and key stakeholders on an agreed construction programme, and its associated impacts nearer the time.
