Local priorities
The ward partnership brings together local people, community groups, organisations, and councillors to take action on what’s important to their area.
We have identified priorities that we are working to address over the coming months:
- increasing community cohesion
- improving the quality of our public realm for example running community clean ups, planters project
- developing a mental health community café for advice and support
- improving early years support and advice to enable early intervention and prevention
Current projects
Creating a Centre for Sands – Planter project
Creating opportunities for residents to get involved in a ‘planting out’ community get-together supports improving community cohesion, bringing a sense of belonging and pride in the area and involvement in shaping community.
Sands Litter Wombles
Sands Litter Wombles are a group of local volunteers who collect litter in the Sands area. This helps towards our aim of improving the quality of the public realm.
Mental health community café
We are looking to develop a one stop shop of support in a café setting with a focus on providing information and advice on mental health and other topics related to the cost-of-living crisis.
