Review of parishes and wards in Buckinghamshire
Review of parish arrangements in Buckingham
Background of the review
Following a request from Buckingham Town Council, Buckinghamshire Council’s Standards and General Purposes Committee agreed on 4 April 2024 that the proposal proceed to a Community Governance Review.
Proposal
Buckingham Town Council requested that:
- the Highlands and Watchcroft ward is merged into the Buckingham North ward (this would increase the number of councillors for this ward from 7 to 8)
- the Fisher's Field ward is merged into the Buckingham South ward (this would increase the number of councillors for this ward from 8 to 9)
They proposed that the changes would better reflect the community identity, electoral equality and promote efficient and effective local government.
This proposal won’t cause any changes to the new Buckinghamshire Council wards from May 2025.
Consultation
The consultation for this proposal ran from Tuesday 7 May to Sunday 16 June 2024.
