There is no proposed change to the council size.
They proposed that the changes would better reflect the community identity, electoral equality and promote efficient and effective local government.
Consultation
A consultation to get your views on the proposal is taking place from Wednesday 11 September to Wednesday 23 October.
What happens next
Following the consultation, the Community Governance Review Working Group will review the consultation responses and suggest to the Standards and General Purposes Committee whether any changes should be made the Town Council’s electoral arrangements.
The Committee will then consider the final recommendations and either agree to make changes to the Town Council’s electoral arrangements or keep the current arrangements in place. Any changes to the Town Council’s electoral arrangements would be made via a Reorganisation Order that the Committee would need to agree.
If the proposal is taken forward, any changes would take effect at the next scheduled local elections on 1 May 2025.
