Review of the number of Hazlemere Parish Councillors
Background of the review
Following a request received from Hazlemere Parish Council, Buckinghamshire Council’s Standards and General Purposes Committee agreed on 4 April 2024 that the proposal proceed to a Community Governance Review.
Proposal
Hazlemere Parish Council have requested that the number of councillors at Hazlemere Parish Council be increased from 12 to 16.
This is because the parish council have seen an increase in workload due to the increasing population and new housing developments in the area.
There are currently 2 wards in the parish; North and South. Each of the wards have 6 councillors.
Consultation
The consultation for this proposal ran from Tuesday 7 May to Sunday 16 June 2024.

Final recommendations
Feedback from the consultation was considered by the Standards and General Purposes Committee, along with other relevant information, on 10 September 2024.
The Committee agreed the final recommendations, that the proposal, as submitted by Hazlemere Parish Council, be agreed, to promote effective and convenient local government.
The proposal is supported by Hazlemere Parish Council and was supported by most of the consultation responses that were received.
There were no additional direct costs to implement the proposal.

The final recommendations are published which means that the Community Governance Review has ended.
A Reorganisation Order was also agreed by the Committee which means changes will take effect on 1 March 2025, in time for the next scheduled local elections on 1 May 2025.
