Review of the number of Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Councillors
Background of the review
Following a request received from Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council, Buckinghamshire Council’s Standards and General Purposes Committee agreed on 4 April 2024 that the proposal proceed to a Community Governance Review.
Proposal
Longwick-cum-Ilmer Parish Council have proposed an increase in the number of parish councillors from 7 to 9 to reflect an increase in housing and population.
Consultation
The consultation for this proposal ran from Tuesday 7 May to Sunday 16 June 2024.

Final recommendations
Feedback from the consultation was considered by the Standards and General Purposes Committee, along with other relevant information, on 10 September 2024.
The Committee agreed the final recommendations, that the proposal, as submitted by Longwick cum Ilmer Parish Council, be agreed, to promote effective and convenient local government.
The recommendation factored in the small number of consultation responses and recognises that the proposal is supported by Longwick cum Ilmer Parish Council.
There were no additional direct costs to implement the proposal.

The final recommendations are published which means that the Community Governance Review has ended.
A Reorganisation Order was also agreed by the Committee which means changes will take effect on 1 March 2025, in time for the next scheduled local elections on 1 May 2025.
