About the eVisa digital immigration system
You'll need to use physical identification documents to travel to the UK.
An eVisa is an online record of your immigration status. It will replace current documents that prove your status, including:
- Biometric Residence Cards (BRC)
- Biometric Residence Permits (BRP)
- endorsements in your passports, such as stamps
- stickers in your passport, such as entry clearance.
From March 2025, you will need an eVisa to prove your immigration status. BRP and BRC cards will no longer be accepted.
How to get an eVisa
If you have a biometric residence permit (BRP) that expired on 31 December, the Government will have contacted you to set up a UKVI account to enable you to access your eVisa.
