About the eVisa digital immigration system
The government are creating a digital immigration system this year. This will give you access to an eVisa which you can use to:
- prove your status to others, for example employers
- update personal details including passport number and email address
This service is for existing and new customers.
How to get an eVisa
If you have a biometric residence permit expiring in December
If you have a biometric residence permit (BRP) that expires on 31 December 2024, the government will contact you to setup a UKVI account and access your eVisa before the expiry date.
If you have already been contacted
You may have already been contacted by email or letter about creating an account.
Follow the instructions you received.
If you have not been contacted
If you have not been contacted about creating an account, you’ll be able to create your account and access your eVisa later in 2024.
You can sign up for updates about eVisas from UKVI (you may need to login or setup a GOV.UK One Login account).
