Council Tax disregard for residents of hospitals, nursing homes, care homes or night shelters

People who are permanent residents in a hospital, nursing home, care home or night shelter can be disregarded where these types of property are liable for Council Tax. The property must be their main residence.

In most cases, the Council Tax liability will fall on the owner or company who provides the accommodation and/or care.

If you are a company enquiring about a disregard on a property regarding any of these categories contact us.
