Domestic Building Envelope Energy Efficiency Grant (DBEEE)

We have received over 80 Domestic Building Envelope Energy Efficiency (DBEEE) grant enquiries since the scheme launched on 1 May 2024. We are no longer accepting new applications as the funding has been fully committed.

If you registered your interest with Better Housing Better Health prior to 1 July 2024, your application will still be considered.

The Domestic Building Envelope Energy Efficiency (DBEEE) Grant is a new Domestic Resource Efficiency Service grant scheme that provides grants of up to £30,000 per eligible household for residents to install energy efficiency measures at their property.

This grant is different to the government funded Home Upgrade Grant 2 and low-cost easy retrofit resource efficiency (LCERRE) measures being offered via the Energy Doctor scheme.

The grant cannot be used in conjunction with other funding streams for the same works funded by this grant.

What you could get

If you’re eligible, you could use the grant to fund the installation of the following measures:

  • roof insulation
  • cavity wall insulation
  • external wall insulation
  • loft insulation
  • window replacement
  • secondary glazing
  • door replacement
  • other works where exceptional circumstances apply

Installing these features could help you reduce your carbon footprint and spend less on your energy bills.

Eligibility

To qualify you must own and live in the property you're applying for works to and it must be your only or main residence.

You must also meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • your household has a combined annual income of £36,000 or less before tax
  • a member of the household is in receipt of means tested benefits such as Universal Credit or Council Tax Support
  • a member of your household receives a disability related benefit such as Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Personal Independence Payment or Employment and Support Allowance

Your property must also either not be legally required to have an energy performance rating (EPC) or have an EPC of:

  • D
  • E
  • F
  • G
