Some risk factors for dementia, such as age or genetics can not be changed. In general, what’s good for your heart is good for your brain. Staying active, eating well and stopping smoking can help reduce our risk of dementia by a third.
The below national resources from the NHS provide advice on how these lifestyle changes can help reduce your risk of dementia.
Eating and drinking
Eating balanced meals that include fibre and drinking fluids throughout the day helps to maintain bladder and bowel functions and lower risk of urinary tract infections.
