About the park and facilities

The park is at the centre of Buckingham, within a 5-minute walk of the town centre. It's ideal for picnics, informal games, nature spotting and walking. It has a modern, open feel with areas for informal recreation and wildlife.

It covers approximately 10.5 hectares, with the River Great Ouse at its edge. Forming part of the Buckingham Circular Walk, it encompasses:

  • Bridge Street
  • Cornwalls Meadow
  • Stratford Fields

The park has:

  • play spaces in Bridge Street and Stratford Fields (for ages 2 to 14)
  • a skate park (for ages 8 and over)

Inclusive play items include:

  • nest swings
  • a wide slide

It's also a Green Flag Award-winning park (the quality benchmark which recognises well managed parks and green spaces).

Other activities at the park

The park also has other unique experiences including the following.

Explore the historical ridge and furrow (medieval ploughing system) that is still present.

The River Great Ouse provides an ecological corridor with species (including otters) that have established a viable population in the town.

You can volunteer to help with conservation, and other related activities with with the Vale Countryside Volunteers.

Coronation Meadows

It is Buckinghamshire’s flagship Coronation Meadow (in partnership with Plant Life and the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT).

Edible woodland

There is edible woodland for local residents to grow edible and useful plants in a natural and sustainable way.

Access and parking

There is relatively good connectivity everywhere.

Pay and display car parking is available off of Cornwalls Meadow (a short walk from park).

Damage or vandalism

Occasionally sites may be subject to misuse or acts of vandalism, including:

  • broken glass being left on the ground
  • damaged play equipment
  • graffiti
