Key programmes will include:
- Continued funding for the Fixed Play Strategy including the Rolling Replacement Programme.
- Consultation with children and young people to inform refurbishments and new developments to create challenging and imaginative play areas.
- Ensuring that adequate open space and play provision is provided. Included within any new developments (housing) within the district.
- Consultation with focus groups, specialist providers and other relevant groups and stakeholders to identify what information would be most useful for families. Survey of the former WDC owned fixed play sites.
- Collation of results and design and implementation of clear and easily understood information on the former WDC website. Promotion of information.
- Survey results used to inform refurbishments and creation of new fixed play sites to improve accessibility and inclusivity of play sites.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge on best practice and trends linked to play, play equipment and open spaces.
- To work in partnership to provide complementary play provision by providing a range of different play experiences throughout the district.
Targeted outcome
Targeted outcomes will include:
- Continued maintenance and refurbishment of fixed play equipment.
- Fixed play equipment and sites meet the needs of residents.
- Children and young people have access to play/open spaces within their local communities.
- To identify key facilities and information and the best way for this to be accessed.
- Design and implementation of information in suitable format.
- Improve accessibility of sites and of play opportunities for children with multiple needs.
- To provide a relevant and exciting play experience for children and young people across the district.
- A variety of types of playgrounds and play opportunities are available throughout the district.
