Using library computers and wifi
Using library computers
Library members
Library members can use library computers for 1 hour per day for free. After the first hour, you will be charged 50p per 15 minutes. To use a library computer, you must bring your library card. Computer access stops 15 minutes before the library closes.
Some of our libraries offer a remote printing service which allows library members to send prints through from their own device. Visit our Print My Documents website for a list of participating libraries.
Non-library members
If you are not a member of the library, you can use the library computers at a cost of 50p per 15 minutes. Computer access stops 15 minutes before the library closes.
Children and young people
Changes to the policy, now allows children between the ages of 13 and 15, to use public computers without requiring parental consent.
Children aged 0 to 4 |
Children will not be able to use their library membership to access public computers, but parents or guardians can request to lift this restriction when the child turns 5. |
Children aged 5 to 12 |
You (parents) must inform us if you want to restrict your child's to public computers. You can do this by emailing [email protected] or by speaking to a member of staff in branch. If we don't hear from you by 5 March 2025, your child will continue to have access. |
Children aged 13 to 15 |
Children can use public computers without parental consent. This is aligned with GDPR guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office. In addition, this also aligns with our borrower registration policy as children may register to be a library member from 13 years old independently. |
Keeping safe online

Some community libraries offer wifi independently of the council. Check the local login process locally for further details.
