Competition launched to name new café in Black Park Country Park

Buckinghamshire Council is running a competition to name the new café at Black Park Country Park.

Currently in construction, the new café for the park will have indoor and outdoor seating, an external hatch for takeaway snacks and drinks, and improved toilet facilities.

The winning name suggestion will be chosen by a panel of judges and the winner will be given a year’s worth of free parking at Buckinghamshire Country Parks (worth £70) and VIP entry to the grand opening event.

Entries are open now until 5 January 2025, with the winner being announced on 27 January 2025.

The new café is expected to open in spring 2025, and for safety reasons during construction there will be access and parking restrictions. The Lakeside Café and toilets on the opposite side of the lake will remain open for visitors.

Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, said:

“We are excited to see the new café take shape and look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy the enhanced facilities. This naming competition is a wonderful opportunity for the community to get involved and leave a lasting mark on Black Park.”

The new café will serve a variety of hot and cold drinks, meals and snacks, with catering provided by the park’s current catering company, San Remo. This will be in addition to the existing Lakeside Café – enhancing the catering offer within the park. San Remo currently have a catering trailer located next to Go Ape to serve visitors.
