Revamped Ropes on the Rye play area is on its way
The countdown to the opening of the new and improved Ropes on the Rye play area has begun.
The site in High Wycombe has closed this week so the renovation works can begin on the exciting new play facility.
The site will remain closed for around eight weeks to allow contractors to fully transform the area with a range of new equipment including:
- a bespoke ‘Tree Castle’ multi-play unit
- a mini space net
- a track ride tower
- a giant spinning disc
- a ‘cocowave’ swing
- an outdoor calisthenics fitness unit
Many of the new items will be crafted from recycled materials and will incorporate features to improve access for all ages and abilities.
The design of the new play area has been informed by consultation with the local community. One of the requests made was for a bigger and better play area with inclusive equipment. As a result of this, the new Tree Castle has been designed to include an inclusive access ramp and wide slide, enabling easier play for all.
Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure said: “I am delighted to be able to say that the transformation works to this popular play area have now begun and all being well the new facilities will be open by the end of March.
“We know how important play areas like this are to our local communities and despite the huge strains on our budget, we are committed to making lasting improvements like this for the benefit of everyone.”
Clive added: “We are especially pleased to be able to incorporate ideas and suggestions that came out of our local consultation. It is important to us that this play area is fully accessible to all and provides a welcome boost for the community. We know how popular the original play area has been for many years and we are confident that the new one will be even more so.
