What does Healthy Ageing mean to you?

Bucks residents are being asked for their thoughts on what healthy ageing means to them as part of an engagement exercise being run by Buckinghamshire Council.

According to the World Health Organisation, ‘ageing well’ is a broad concept which relates to the ability for people of all ages to live healthy, safe and fulfilling lives.

Together with partners, Buckinghamshire Council is in the process of creating a Healthy Ageing Strategy and wants the help of residents to help shape this work. The Bucks Healthy Ageing Strategy will set out key priorities for Buckinghamshire, which may range from support for individuals, improvements to the environment and buildings, transport, housing and social and community networks.

Angela Macpherson, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing said: “This strategy is about creating the right environment for every resident to live healthy, happy lives for longer. We want to ensure people can continue to stay in their homes for longer as they get older, take part in activities they enjoy and contribute to their communities for as long as possible. To help us do this, we need to understand how we, together with our partners, can support people who live and work in Buckinghamshire to age well as they grow older.”

The Healthy Ageing Strategy survey runs until Monday 17 July. Take part online through Your Voice Bucks.

Alternatively, you can print out a copy of the survey by visiting the webpage.

Completed surveys can be posted to: Public Health Team, Healthy Ageing, Walton Street, Aylesbury, HP20 1UA or emailed to [email protected]

The survey is open to anyone aged 40 years and over who lives and/or works in Buckinghamshire.
