Apply to put materials on the public highway
You’ll need a licence if you want to temporarily put materials on the public highway, such as:
- buildings materials
- Biffa bins

How to apply
To apply for a licence, you’ll need to:
- upload a copy of your public liability insurance certificate (minimum £10 million)
- upload a copy of the location map
The cost of a licence is £132.
Your application will not be processed if you do not submit the required supporting documents.
If you've already put materials on the public highway
If you've already put materials on the public highway, you can apply for a licence retrospectively.
The cost for a retrospective licence is £258.
What happens next
Applications will take 4 weeks to complete, providing all documents are submitted.
The licence will be valid for 28 calendar days.
