Apply for or renew a Blue Badge
How to apply or renew
On the government website you can apply for a Blue Badge for:
- yourself
- someone else
- an organisation that transports people who need a Blue Badge
Before you apply you should check you have all the documents and evidence you need.
Your badge could take up to 12 weeks to arrive.
Paying for your badge
Blue Badges cost £10.
If your application is approved we will send you a link by email to pay online.
If you are applying by post, you can include a £10 cheque or postal order with the applicant's name and address clearly printed on the back.
When your badge expires
There is no automated renewal process.
After 3 years, you must apply for a reassessment using up-to-date documents. We cannot reuse any documents from previous applications.
We recommend you apply 12 weeks before your current badge expires.
You must return your old Blue Badge after it expires.
Using your badge
You can use your Blue Badge for any vehicle as long as the badge holder is in the vehicle.
You do not need to tell us if your car or number plate changes.
Using your badge abroad
Using your parking clock
You will be given a parking clock when you get your Blue Badge.
The parking clock allows you to park on yellow lines for up to 3 hours, as long as there is no ban on loading.
Use the clock to show the time that you started parking. It must be visible from outside the vehicle.
If you've lost your parking clock, you can request a replacement.
