Electric vehicles
Electric vehicles in business
Benefits and support available
We asked the charity Global Action Plan to work with local businesses to assist in making it easier to buy Electric Vehicles (EVs). Some of the benefits include:
- EVs are cheaper to run
- they avoid the need to pay Clean Air Zone (CAZ) and Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charges
- they are cleaner and better for the environment
- they are more quiet and can be more comfortable
- there may be tax benefits and there are special tax rates for EVs
Learn more about the benefits of switching to EVs and what support is available in the employer and employee FAQs [PDF, 667KB] created by Global Action Plan.
How Global Action Plan have helped us
Global Action Plan worked with 30 large employers and provided support to increase usage of EVs and e-bikes in their operations. They also encouraged staff (including staff on low to middle income) to buy or lease EVs and e-bikes by promoting government schemes and incentives.
Global Action Plan attended events organised by Bucks Business First to promote the benefits of EV ownership and how it can impact positively by reducing air pollutants and greenhouse gases.

Testimonials
Existing businesses have summarised the benefits of incorporating electric vehicles into their operations.
"By appointing a dedicated Responsible Business Director we were able to focus our efforts across our sustainability objectives. With the help of Global Action Plan, through the Buckinghamshire Council EV project, we were given the impetus and advice needed in our transition to EVs. It supports our sustainable strategic growth objectives, highlights our commitment to clients and staff as well as improving local air quality."
