High Wycombe transport strategy
The High Wycombe 2050 transport strategy outlines a balanced approach to future transport through a range of proposed transport interventions focused in and around the High Wycombe area.
The development of the High Wycombe 2050 transport strategy has involved extensive local engagement with local members, officers and stakeholders to understand key local challenges and opportunities.

The strategy aims to address the town's transport challenges by setting an ambitious vision and 3 key objectives that aim to:
- allow everyone to access important destinations, services and travel hubs by providing and promoting attractive alternatives to the car, making best use of technology and reducing the need to travel
- strengthen connectivity – digital, energy and transport – to support the movement of people and goods within the Thames Valley, to London, Heathrow Airport, Oxford and beyond
- enhance health and wellbeing by providing safe, accessible routes to the town and its unique natural surroundings, including The Chilterns and Rivers Wye and Thames
The strategy has been developed in conjunction with the High Wycombe Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
It will be integrated appropriately with the following plans and frameworks to achieve an overarching strategic approach for the county:
- Buckinghamshire-wide LCWIP
- Regeneration Framework
- Local Transport Plan (LTP5 is in development)
- Local Plan for Buckinghamshire (in development)
The High Wycombe 2050 Transport Strategy will be used to inform our approach to transport planning in High Wycombe and to identify priorities for future investment.
Specific proposals and interventions identified in the transport strategy will be subject to further development, engagement and public consultation, if and when they are taken forward and as funding becomes available.
