High volumes of planning applications

We currently have high volumes of planning applications and limited resource available.

Planning case officers will therefore only speak directly to your planning agent, unless you do not have one.

Most applications are determined within our targets

We are currently determining over 90% of all major, minor and other applications within our targets, which includes Extensions of Time requests.

Expected determination time frame currently:

  • Major applications are taking on average 49.8 weeks to determine
  • Minor applications are taking on average 22.5 weeks to determine
  • Others, which includes Householder applications, are taking on average 10.9 weeks to determine.

We will only contact your agent (or you) if we believe that further information could resolve minor issues quickly.

We will not reply to requests directed to technical consultees.

Applications that are considered unacceptable in principle

We will not contact your agent (or you) if:

  • the application is considered to be unacceptable in principle, and
  • you didn't seek pre-application advice

And we will determine the application as quickly as possible.

We will only contact your agent (or you) if the case officer can't determine your application by the expiry date referenced in the acknowledgement letter.

If you want an update on your planning application

The quickest and easiest way to view the status of your application is on view or comment on a planning application.

If you have objected or commented via Public Access

Planning case officers will not reply to issues raised in emails or letters.

However, they will consider any important planning comments made when assessing the application.
