Transport to education provider
Transport for children aged 0 to 5
Children not yet of compulsory school age (from the term after a child is 5 years old) are not usually eligible for free transport to their early years setting.
Buckinghamshire Council has the power to provide free transport for early years children, which it will do in rare circumstances. You can find out more in section 3.8(e) of Buckinghamshire Council's Home to School Transport Policy.
If you have read section 3.8(e) and believe you have exceptional reasons for needing help with transporting your child to their education provider, you can make a request as follows:
- If your child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), you should write to your EHC Coordinator.
- If your child does not have an EHCP, you should contact the Admissions and School Transport team.
For more detail on the relevant law, see the IPSEA page on Children under 5.
