Transport to education provider

If your child has an EHCP, contact your Education, Health and Care Coordinator (EHCCo) and let them know that you want transport. It is the integrated SEND team that decides on eligibility for free home to school transport for children with an EHCP.

You will also need to contact your EHCCo to inform them of any change of circumstances, such as a change of address, resulting in a change to transport or regarding transport to new settings in September.

Applications for home to school transport are made via the Admissions and school transport contact form.

A child or young person may be eligible for free school transport because of the distance they live from their nearest appropriate school.

For secondary schools, you can use Buckinghamshire Council free school transport distance checker for secondary schools to find out whether your child qualifies for free school transport because of distance from the school.

For primary schools, you can check using the Admissions and school transport contact form. Select the 'Primary Admission to Reception' option on the form.

There are a number of other reasons why a child or young person may be eligible for free home to school transport.

A child with SEND may be able to eligible for transport to the nearest suitable school if they are unable to walk for any of the following reasons, even without an EHCP:

• they have Special Educational Needs
• they have a disability or mobility problems
• there is no safe walking route
