Refer a child not receiving a formal education to us
We have a statutory duty to try and identify and locate children between the ages of 5 to 16 who are missing from education. This is in line with the CME guidance 2024.
Children missing from education are not:
- on a school roll (including independent schools)
- being educated in an alternative provision
- being educated at home (Electively Home Educated - EHE)
How to make a referral
You can make a referral if you're:
- school staff
- a relevant professional
Schools must also complete and return either a:
- CME tracking sheet (PDF, 150 KB)
- CME tracking sheet (moved within the UK) (PDF, 237 KB)
Uploaded as a part of the online referral.
