Apply for a secondary school place

How we process your application

Schools in Buckinghamshire often have more applications than there are places available.

We use a school’s admission rules (oversubscription criteria) to work out which children should be allocated a place. The information in your application tells us which admission rule is right for your child.

Applying for schools outside of Buckinghamshire

If you've applied for schools outside Buckinghamshire, we'll share that information with the relevant area's school admissions team.

They'll tell us if a place can be offered.

How your order of preferences affects which school your child is offered

Each child must only receive one school offer.

Sometimes there might be a place available for your child at more than one of the schools in your application.

If this happens, we'll look at the order you listed the schools in your application to work out which school you would prefer.
