Free school transport
How to apply
Most Buckinghamshire children are not eligible for free school transport.
If your child meets the criteria in our school transport policy, they may be offered free school transport when we offer them a school place.
If you are applying as a low income family or you think the walking route is unsafe, you will have to contact us for a review and provide evidence.
Check if you're eligible
You can use our online form to check if your child is eligible for free school transport.
Distance from school
If you need free school transport because of how far your child's walk to school is, you do not need to apply. You'll be offered it automatically when you're allocated a school place, if you meet the criteria.
You will need to accept your offer of free school transport.
Low income families
If you are a family on a low income and meet the low income family criteria, contact us for more information about getting free school transport.
In your application, you will need to provide evidence of receiving maximum Working Tax Credit or that your child is entitled to free school meals.
Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
To find out if your SEND child qualifies for free school transport, contact your named Education, Health and Care Coordinator.
Unsafe walking route
We are aware of most of the unsafe walking routes in Buckinghamshire and these are kept under review. If you think your child's walking route is unsafe, you can ask for the route to be assessed.
