Hot weather

The weather is exceptionally hot. View guidance on conserving water and staying safe in hot weather and what to do if you see someone sleeping on the streets on Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP).

Bin collections will start from 6am on 30 June and 1 July

Due to the hot weather, we'll start collecting bins from 6am on Monday 30 June and Tuesday 1 July. If your bin is due for collection, make sure you put your bins out the night before or no later than 6am on the day of collection.

Dispose of business or charity waste and recycling

Take your charity waste to a household recycling centre

We allow charities or not-for-profit organisations to use our household recycling centres to dispose of waste and recycling:

These sites are only available to use from Monday to Friday.

They accept commercial vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes.

Before you visit

Before visiting you will need to:

  1. register as a waste carrier (GOV.UK)
  2. apply for a vehicle waste permit (issued by the council)

Registration with the Environment Agency is free and lasts for 3 years.

When you visit

When you visit a household recycling centre you should bring your:

  • online waste permit or paper copy
  • waste carrier licence or exemption certificate

Staff will ask to see these before you can dispose of your waste and recycling.
