Context of the portfolio

A large proportion of the care market in Buckinghamshire is driven by people who fund their own care.

The pandemic and recent social care reforms announcements are anticipated to have a long-term impact on the care market, including increased vacancies.

We will continue to develop our understanding of likely future need and demand and work with providers to ensure Buckinghamshire has a future care market that is able to meet people’s eligible care needs through the right kind of support in the right places.

There have been positives that have come about as part of our response to COVID-19.

As we recover from the pandemic, we will want to build on these so that people are better supported to retain their independence and reduce reliance on formal services.

Partnership working has been strengthened during COVID-19 and although disrupted by the pandemic, we continue to work with health partners to integrate services for the benefit of the public.
