Privacy and concessionary bus passes

This Privacy Notice explains how the Concessionary Bus Pass service at Buckinghamshire Council (the data controller) will use the personal information we collect about you when you use this service.

Information held about you

We can hold the following information on you:

  • your name
  • contact details, telephone number and email address
  • date of birth
  • gender
  • National Insurance Number
  • Your ethnicity
  • previous address (if you have moved in the last six months)
  • proof of identity (photograph)
  • proof of address
  • if you are applying for a disabled bus pass, we ask for your reason for disability eligibility signed by a GP/Health Professional

If you make an application for a disabled bus pass, we may hold the following additional information:

  • medical evidence

Why we need your information

We need your information to:

  • ensure our database is accurate for the administration of Concessionary Bus Pass in line with current Concessionary Travel Act.
  • administer your Concessionary Bus Pass application.
  • to contact you to arrange payment if you are eligible for a Bus Pass

What is the lawful basis for us to process your information?

The legal bases for processing the data under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 are:

  • Article 6(1)(e) We need it to perform a Public Task
  • Article 9(2)(g) Substantial public interest

We may ask to use information already held by the Council to assist with assessing your eligibility and processing your application. Our legal basis for this is:

  • Article 6(1)(a) your consent

We will always ask you if we are relying on consent. You can remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting [email protected].
